The boys will be 11 days old at 6:28pm. Those days have passed quickly now that I look back. We feel like they will be 11 years old, not days. They have been through so much.
David was not feed at 5am, b.c. he had alot of residual in his belly from 2am. These feedings are trophic (small feeding to get the belly used to feedings) and are not meant for nutrition right now. He still has his IV giving the nutrition. He did get his 8am feeding. I wonder if his belly is still recovering from the surgery. Breathing wise he is doing ok on the CPAP. The nurses noticed that he is much calmer and does better on his belly, so when they put him on his back or side they just need to turn up his oxygen a bit.
Brandon is doing ok. He is still tolerating the 1.5ml of breastmilk every 3 hours. His last blood-gas reading showed his Bicarbs at a -13 (not sure what that means, but the nurse wasnt too concerned. She said it was do to him trying so hard to breath on his own). To compensate the gave him some sodium bicarb. His oxy is at 27% which is fine (21% is normal room air).
